Bali will probably always get the top spot as the one of the greatest dream destinations in Asia alongside with Maldives, Japan, South Korea and the tri-city trips of Indochina. To the eyes of many, Bali will always be a fantasy. But wait, you could be wrong.
If I may share you, I and my best friend have this annual Friendship celebratory day where we go out of town to simply catch up on things. You know just like any other relationship, ours isn’t perfect too because adulting is real; it changes priorities and often creates a separation hence we really make to a point to bemuse. It is during the summer time when we normally plan to meet as we both love going to the beach. Unfortunately, we dint make it this year. A couple weeks back, she chatted me in messenger and told me if we could set up a post friendship anniversary / post birthday party for another close chum. Of course I said “yes” with so much excitement.
She presented me with these few good Biglaang Escape destinations in Bulacan and Tarlac. And because the two of them are the so-called “southern-ers” , we choose to go to the Batangas instead since there’s no one who will drive for us too.
We’ve read so much about the Villa Jovita. The social media check-ins and hash tag says a lot. And Bali being a destination we’ve been wishing for is now within the reach, we’re all in!
Bali Trip (How to Get there?)
It was around 9:00 of a beautiful Sunday morning when we traveled to Agoncillo, Batangas where Villa Jovita resort is located. I met my friends in Star Mall, Alabang where we rode the DLTBco bus route to Lemerey, Batangas. Surprisingly the road is well engineered thus we had a smooth and fast drive way better than what I’ve expected at first. Kudos to the provincial government of Batangas!
It was approximately a couple of hours when we reached the town of Lemery in Batangas where we drop off at the Xentro Mall. We decided to grab a chicken inasal for lunch there and bought our “baon” for the entire stay especially that we booked for a tent pitching only. We’ve arrived at the resort before the 2:00 pm regular time for check-in.
Welcome to Villa Jovita
I remember having a great Batangueno kwetuhan while checking in. My ala-eh accent comes out naturally whenever I visit home. The arrival was as fine as we did check –in under this big mango tree. Yes, it’s funny true. The receptionist is located under the mango tree. We were laughing inside as we presented our deposit slip of reservation but we find it cute. Shortly, my team was pointed to stay in their pavilion where the incoming tent pitching visitors are waiting for the sun heat to die down and so the outgoing visitors too.
It was passed 3:00 in the afternoon when we decided to roam around with our day one OOTD. Of course, the first thing we looked for was the Bali inspired spots as our prime reason why we choose to be here. Please take note that they do not provide any guide map of the resort hence we suggest you ask the receptionist where the Bali inspired corner is situated to save time since there’s a queue even on Sunday too. Luckily there were small numbers of visitors when we visited this weekend. So the weekday’s trip is highly recommended although we think the Sunday-Monday visit is definitely doable.
Giant Swing and Nest
Earlier I said that the notion of Bali trip to many aspiring travelers could take sometimes to be of a reality if not will remain a forever fantasy. In Villa Jovita you’ll get to experience to swing your heart out on their giant jungle swing and those Bali inspired nests which can bring your fascinations to life.
Our initial plan was to just do an ocular visit; examine how things going and strategize our camera settings ready for the next day photo-shoot. But the warm and the captivating sunset of the place is truly irresistible. Suddenly, we fell in love to Jovita’s Bali-ish aura. We really suggest that you go in the afternoon pictorial to the Bali inspired corner. Maximize it especially if your barkada plans for an overnight stay only. Believe us there is no other perfect time than the late afternoon drama. It is more astonishing than having that idea of a mini pictorial in the morning. You definitely wouldn’t like it. The sun rises so quickly and the light is too harsh for your camera lens and phones.
There are four ingenious bird nests that you can select for. Among the four, it is the hanging nest we liked the most simply because it’s elevated and has a better view from the top. The swing is absolutely the highlights of them all. It’s scary as it seems but my friends really enjoyed it and requested to get more swings surprisingly. The view is amazing! You’ll see the low plain rice field, coco trees, bamboo grass and scenematic mountain view from the top as you exhale the fresh air from above. Go wear your most fashionable free flowing OOTDs as it is absolutely a must try.
I remember telling my bestfriend that I wish to have the same investment at home in the island. I think the thought of bringing those beautiful spots from other nation to life is truly sale-able. Why would you still go out the country if you can find the same scenery available to locals, right?
Aside from these giant swing and nets, Villa Jovitas has several swimming pools to offer too. Again, if you go for an overnight accommodation only, swimming could be a perfect done as part of your morning itinerary. There is a nice pool at the back of the pavilion however if you are up to pools closer to the nature then those distinctive infinity pools can be found near the river. You can only imagine wearing your best swimsuit attire while either chatting with your friends or peacefully meditating. You probably would ask if the water is cold too but surprisingly it is not. From the distant, you’ll see the mountain view and the river that flows to the Taal Lake according to receptionist - just so cool.
Camping/Glamping and Wine
Our team decided to go on camping since we wanted to experience nature in its simplistic form. Although, I think we had a combination of both. I brought a bottle of red wine and glasses with me. We got this nice table provided by the resort where my friends set up a fabulous flat lay like a pro.
One of my friends brought her fairy lights with her too that totally sets the mood. This trip has totally unleashed our creativity and once enables us to create a new story. Just a tip, you may want to bring a tripod with you for a groupie. You don’t want someone from the group be left out for a mandatory group picture.
It was around seven in the evening while we were enjoying our light dinner over wine when it rain. It was hard and something that we all failed to anticipate. We hurriedly shed ourselves at the resort’s pavilion where we finished our dinner and waited for the rain to stop. The experience was crazy thrilling and fun. So next time you plan, you know what to do?
Despite of the unforeseen weather condition, who would have thought that we would still be able to do a stargazing? Yes, shortly after the rain had stop, we went back to our tent and started setting up those sleeping bags outside the tent and waited for the starts to shine out. What a bizarre feeling it has been.
